Scripture: Isaiah 53:4-6, Matthew 8:16-17

In the beginning God made all things perfect (Gen 1:31). God made man in His own image, planted a garden eastward of Eden and put the man whom he had formed in the garden to dress it and keep it Gen 1:7-15). God then gave man an instruction to avoid eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Gen 1:17) as the consequence is death. Well, man succumbed to the tactics of the enemy due to lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life (Gen 3:6). Consequently, man surrendered his God given authority to the devil (Gen 3:1-7) and the Lord pronounced some curses on man. Pain, sickness, sufferings and death are the fallouts from man’s disobedience.

However, the living God was not done with man yet. He was concerned about his well being, both spiritual and physical. He then made a way out that man might be reconciled back to Him and restored to his original position. He sent His Son – Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins. He became a curse that we might be delivered from the curse of the law (Gal 3:13-14). God’s plan was evident in Jesus’ ministry on earth. Lord Jesus preached the good news (Matthew 4:17), set the captives free, delivered the oppressed, fed the hungry and healed the sick. Mathew 8:16 says, “When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Him, and he drove out the spirits with the word and healed all the sick”. God’s plan is not only to have us make it to His kingdom but to see us fulfill our purpose here on earth as He had originally intended.

We sometimes invite sickness into our lives when we live in disobedience to the word of God. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple”. So sickness can come when you feed your body with junks ( due to lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes). Sickness may also come through an affliction from the adversary – the devil (read Job 2:7). It is also possible for one to be sick without any particular cause other than for God’s work to be displayed in that particular life (John 9:1-3). The truth of the matter is that we serve a God who is able to heal our diseases when we come to Him in absolute surrender.

In Isaiah 52 and 53, we see a description of what Christ suffered in order to redeem us. These include:

  1. His appearance was deformed (Isa 52:14)

  2. He was disbelieved (Isa 53:1)

  3. He was despised and rejected

  4. He was treated like a criminal (Isa 53:4)

  5. He was wounded, bruised, chastised and beaten with many stripes.

  6. He was oppressed (Isa 53:):7)

  7. His life was violently taken (Isa 53: 7-8)

  8. He was denied justice (Isa 53:8-9)

  9. He was classed as a criminal (Isa 53:12)

As a result of His sufferings, we now have access to, healing (Isa 53:4-5), forgiveness (Isa 53:5) and peace. His suffering brought about the restoration of man and his dominion before the fall (Isa 53:11, 1 Cor 15: 24-25). He purchased our justification as a result of his suffering. We can now approach the throne of God boldly with confident expectation that we will receive what we ask for.

It is never too late with our God. An invalid who had been at the pool of Bethesda for 38 years had an encounter with Jesus and was healed instantly (John 5:1-9). The woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years touched his cloak and her bleeding stopped. A genuine encounter with Jesus must produce tremendous result (Mark 6:53:56). If you are sick and reading this, let it be known that the Lord has sought you out today. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I declare to you that today is your day of deliverance.

Instruction: Ask for forgiveness if you are the cause of your sickness (through your eating habit or any other habits) and make a commitment to change your lifestyle.  Then get some olive oil (which signifies the Spirit of God) and anoint your head with it (James 5:14-15). Then pray the following prayers from your heart.

- Every yoke of sickness in my life, I command you to be destroyed in Jesus’ name (Isaiah 10:27).

- Every seed of sickness in my life, I command you, be destroyed by the stripes of Jesus (Isaiah 53:5).

- Let the power that is in the blood of Jesus give life to my spirit, soul and body.

- I speak to every cell, tissue, organ and system in my body, function in the perfection to    which God has created you in Jesus’ name.

- You foreign object in my body, I command you to lose heart and come out of your hidden places in Jesus’ name (Psalm 18:44-45).

- Every stronghold of sickness in my body be pulled down in Jesus’ name.

- Heavenly Father, contend with every sickness that is contending with my health in Jesus’ name (Isaiah 49:25).

- I put a stop to every demonically orchestrated sickness in my spirit, soul and body in Jesus’ name.

- From this day forward I soak myself in the blood of Jesus and I declare my life untouchable by the enemy in Jesus’ name (1 Chronicles 16:22).

Thank the Lord for answering your prayers.
